The lot was flat, right on the water, and had been home to an aging lake house that had fought a losing battle with water issues for years. Rather than patch problems that kept coming back, the homeowners made the call to start fresh — and Shadywood Haus is what took its place.
Built slab on grade in Orono, the new two-story home is designed around the way this family actually lives on the lake: four bedrooms and six bathrooms give everyone room to spread out, while the layout keeps the lake as the focal point from nearly every angle. These are homeowners who are on the water constantly, boating throughout the season, and the home was built to match that rhythm — easy movement between indoors and out, with the lake never far from view.
We worked closely with Windmiller Design on the architecture and Halehaus on interior design to bring the whole vision together, from the framing up through the last finish detail. The result is a home that solved the old lot’s water problems for good, without losing an inch of what made the location worth building on in the first place.
